Editor: It is a busy summer and 2014 seems to be going well … so … it is difficult to be thinking of 2015, but that is what some of us are doing.

As many of you are aware 2015 is the 250th anniversary of Samuel Holland ending his surveying of our island. His map of the 67 lots, the sites Charlottetown, Georgetown and Princetown and the counties is at the archives in Kew just outside of London, England. The exciting news is that it is coming to Charlottetown for an exhibition at Confederation Centre next summer. It is presently being restored inch by inch, getting dressed up for its trip.

I think next year is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate our 67 lots. We need to make them a more distinctive part of our landscape. I want to see those 67 lots researched from the original landowners to the 1880 atlas. The challenge is out — do your lot and we will all celebrate.

Catherine Hennessey,

Charlottetown

Organizations: Confederation Centre

Geographic location: Charlottetown, Georgetown, Kew London England
