No vacation for food bank

Editor: Just a friendly reminder to all Islanders that the shelves of the food banks typically get thin this time of year.

Many people are away, busy with summer visitors, etc. but hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation. According to Food Banks Canada, 850,000 Canadians visit food banks every month. And that number is growing.

Many grocery stores have a drop- off box where you can leave non-perishable food items for the various food banks on P.E.I.

Maybe pick up a few extras on your next visit and drop them in the box. You don’t even have to make a special trip.
