Broke province delays projects

Editor: The main reason for the lack of 2014 road construction projects is because the province is trying to balance the budget for 2015 and it is broke. The focus of the Ghiz government is to celebrate 2014 with political spending and get prepared to run for re-election on a balanced budget plus retaining the moratorium on deep-water wells. The Minister of Environment says she plans to form a task force to draft a new P.E.I. Water Act which should stall the water demands of potato farmers for another year or at least until after the next election. If the Liberals win again then all bets are off. Sooner rather than later Premier Ghiz is expected to retire and a new party leader will be elected so then potato farmers might get more water. Anyway, by 2016 the Island may be out of the french-fry business and Mr. Irving will be operating in another country instead of the Island.
