Four young canoeists struggle ashore off Victoria Park Monday after strollers on the boardwalk thought they were in need of rescue. Police, ambulance and the fire department's rescue boat responded but the group got to land on its own. The two boys in the group did not have PFDs and police had choice words for the whole escapade.
Editor: I am furious after reading this article (Canoeists get earful from police)! For a police officer to act that way is terrible! It’s your job to respond to help people not to give them your opinion, and certainly not to call them a liar. Wonder what will happen the next time they get in trouble, maybe they will drown for fear of calling someone? There is no excuse for poor police behaviour.
