Changes needed in Ghiz’s cabinet

Editor: The editorial does an excellent job of outlining the current problems and complaints concerning our education system. It appears no one is satisfied with the minister of education’s way of operating, therefore the premier needs to make more changes to cabinet before the next election.

Having one appointed English Language School Board has not improved the school system since it has complicated the decision-making process even more. The board has made some questionable decisions such as elimination of the Reading Recovery Program for nine small schools and the closing down of Souris schools three weeks early to do more construction.

I don’t believe the board is getting sound advice from their superintendent because she doesn’t appear to understand the Island system very well and offers us lame excuses instead of leadership. The entire school system is a mess, which needs to be cleaned up, starting at the top, by appointing a new minister of education.
