Editor: Anyone who wants to understand the results of deep-water wells and the overuse of pesticides should read, specifically, pages 98-100, of Carol Drinkwater’s (a fortuitous name) 2008 book The Olive Tree which outlines the disastrous results of such practices.

These are described by Dr. Mendoza of the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture in Cordoba, Spain. It should certainly make one think twice about going ahead with the idea.

Is Ms. Sherry and the government willing to state they accept the responsibility of any negative results should they proceed down this road? Does our environment minister have any understanding of nature’s cycles?

Dr. Mendoza’s studies should be required reading.

As people we often do stupid things, often because of the lack of knowledge. To be knowingly stupid is quite another matter. Forearmed is forewarned.
