Editor: In that ‘Opinion’ in the Guardian, Tuesday, April 15, Heather Mallick laments the demise of the Fredericton abortion clinic and deplores the absence of such a clinic in P.E.I. As I understand it, the clinic is closing for lack of customers and, personally, I am glad about that.
Ms. Mallick praises Dr. Morgentaler as a great benefactor of poor women who could not afford an abortion. Dr. Morgentaler has put an end to thousands of human lives and I fail to see what is so praiseworthy about that. He truly believed that he was doing a great service to women. He was sincere yet also very wrong. Elevating him to the Order of Canada shows that, like Ms. Mallick, our elites in Canada have for the most part embraced those materialistic ideologies which deny the duality of the human being, material and spiritual, body and soul, and in the process, have lost their moral compass.
