Editor: A comment, if I may, on one of your “Weekend thoughts” from Saturday’s editorial page. You informed us of P.E.I. Senator Elizabeth Hubley’s private member bill to commemorate National Fiddling Day.
Strange, we hear very little from the Senator until now (and that, in itself, may not be a bad thing) and it has nothing to do with the sometimes-questioned role of the upper chamber in Ottawa. A little more representation against Harper and Shea and the decimation of our EI system here on P.E.I. would be welcome.
To steal a comment from Gary MacDougall’s column on the next page, dealing with emperor Nero, one might suggest that Senator Hubley fiddles while Prince Edward Island burns.
