Hampton Beach Resort Development is looking to operate 14 two-unit cottages near the shoreline in Hampton. Future development may include building a nine-hole, Par-3 golf course.
Editor: Thanks to Gary McLure for his article on the Opinion page on April 2 defining the land use given for Blue Spruce cottages in Hampton.
He describes very clearly how this development unfolded and how its commercial designation was acquired. All should read it.
We were unaware of this development last fall when we happened to be out exploring this lovely countryside and shoreline. We discovered this land and saw these structures. One cannot call them cottages.
Not only should the land never have been deemed commercial, these buildings should never have been allowed. Both the building designs and the lot layout are not suitable for this location. It’s an eyesore.
