Editor: I commend The Guardian’s publishing of the recent op-ed article written by my former colleague, Professor Henry Srebrnik, covering the matter of subjecting ethnic or religious minorities.

Although I realize that the article concerns current events, I was especially pleased to note the professor’s mentioning of the division of my native country, Ireland, based solely on religious history and Edward Carson’s vow that “Ulster will fight and Ulster will be right!” if six of the counties of Ireland’s northern counties were not granted the right of secession from the rest of the nation by the creation of the Irish Free State, and a truncated form of historic Ulster, where my families have lived for centuries.

Bravo Henry and kudos to The Guardian.
