Still waiting for tax relief

Editor: Provincial Finance Minister Wes Sheridan has yet again proven what a bunch of hypocrites he and his government are.

These days he is thumping his chest in the media saying what a good decision they made when they tied government fees and licences to the rate of inflation. The latest is a two per cent increase in property taxes.

Funny they couldn’t find the same wisdom in tying the personal income tax rates to that same rate of inflation. Sheridan said, in this newspaper last Dec. 5, “there are better places to give Islanders tax relief.”

Well Wes, it’s almost three months since you showed that spark of humanity and we’re still waiting. Any bright ideas yet? I have one and it’s tied to the next election. Stay tuned.
