Neil Young not alone when it’s cranky time

Editor: I’d like to respond to the analysis piece by Troy Media’s Doug Firby in today’s Guardian (“Neil Young a cranky old man.”) He pretty much trashes everything about the Canadian music legend after Young came out swinging recently against the pollution in Alberta’s tar sands. Young said “It’s the greediest, most destructive and disrespectful demonstration of something run amok that you can ever see.”

No dancing around the subject there. Nor is there in Firby’s article: “He has reached a point where he sounds a lot more like a cranky old man than an angry young one.” At least he has the guts to stand up to big oil and the Harper regime who only care about profits and not the sorry truth that they’re selling Canada down the river and turning the Alberta oil region into the cesspool of the world. We need more people like him to stand up with us.

No offense, Mr. Kirby, but you sound a bit cranky too.
