Editor: Elvis Presley, the king of rock and roll was born on January 8, 1935.
His music and personality fusing the styles of county, rhythm, and blues changed the face of popular culture today.
Elvis never forgot where he came from and what it was to be poor. He was always looking in the papers, wherever he was, and when he would see there was someone in trouble with no way out, nine times out of 10 he would send something to help out.
It is easy to give money when you are rich, but Elvis gave money to charity when he was also poor. He rarely said “no” to a plea from the heart, his legacy shall never be forgotten.
To millions around the world, Elvis was and is more than a mere popular entertainer. He was bigger than life, even bigger, ultimately than death. He was quite simply, the King.
Happy birthday, Elvis.
