Founders Hall ideal for market

Editor: It seems people are making suggestions to the government to find a use for Founders Hall now that it is vacant. I might as well put my two cents in before a decision is made.

I think this would be an ideal site for the Charlottetown Farmers Market. The present site is overcrowded and I’m guessing new merchants wanting a space would be turned away. Founders Hall would provide a large and historic-looking building for the market (therefore a great tourist attraction).

There is a large parking lot adjacent to the building and Water Street provides easy access to the Hillsborough Bridge and the arterial highway. This would be a vast improvement over the bottleneck in the Belvedere Avenue roundabout.

With the ever-growing demand for organic and locally grown food, the market needs to grow with the times. The present site may be cozy for those who wish to socialize, but for those of us who want to shop, it is a frustrating place to navigate.
