Report passes over responsibility

Editor: I have read the long-awaited report on addictions from Doug Currie, and I am not surprised about what it contains. The only thing new that can be found is a new position for somebody to assume responsibility for addictions here on P.E.I.

Currie has been promising a great new way of treating addictions for years, and the best he could do is to pass over responsibility to somebody, who I am to assume, was chosen after an extensive search across this country for the position.

I do hope Dr. Matters will not be forced to play politics in her position in order to survive. So now Islanders will have to wait for yet another report before we will know if there is any hope of a realistic, workable and obtainable treatment for addictions here on P.E.I.
