Editor: In regards to the front page of The Guardian on Wednesday, Oct. 16, re: Sheridan and Ghiz borrowing all this money to top off the public sector pensions. It is outrageous and ridiculous to borrow money. The public sector pensioners should be paying into their own pension just like the CPP.
Ghiz and Sheridan, why are you handing this money to the public sector pensioners on a silver platter? Shame on you. And borrowing the money. The public sector pensioners are not babies, they can look after themselves. Let them worry about paying into their own pension plans, forget about borrowing the money to bring the deficit up higher than it already is.
Some of the pensioners are already paying more than $5,000 in income tax and still working seasonal work. I call that downright greedy. I also call it highway robbery, some people never get enough.
Going in debt for the likes of the public sector pensioners, and who's paying back all this money that's being borrowed, Ghiz and Sheridan? The public sector pensioners will be paying a lot more money into income tax, me myself. I hope they all go broke.
I'm going to make sure I don't vote red next time. The government has no need to go deeper and deeper in debt.
You are going to see a lot more of the Islanders heading out west to work.
