Editor: Now that the Island senior baseball season has been wrapped up, we should be much pleased with what we saw.
The Islanders in the New Brunswick league held their own quite nicely with mainland teams and deserve our highest praise. The many people involved with this team’s formation, financial support and ongoing presence have our admiration as well.
It must be difficult to field an Island unit for this New Brunswick league which entails long travels, a limited bench of players, high costs and more. It is always a treat to see these Maritime rivals at play in Memorial Field. Well done.
As well, the Kings County Baseball League has come through again with high marks for its eight-team format, recently concluded, which involved a multitude of players and personnel.
At this autumn moment would someone name for us an all-star team from within the current Kings County loop? Then next summer why not have this all-star squad play an exhibition game in Memorial Field against the local Islanders of the New Brunswick league? See you there.
