Editor: CBC News reported today that “P.E.I. Finance Minister Wes Sheridan has told the Globe and Mail he wants the federal government to boost Canada Pension Plan premiums so middle-class Canadians can have a richer pension in retirement.”
Strange you feel that way, Wes, because it’s the same middle class who is hurt the most from your implementation of the HST. Another example of your government’s annoying habit of passing the buck. You want the working class and small business to top up the money you’re skimming out of our pockets.
Last year you tied all government fees (driver’s license, vehicle registration, marriage permits, etc.) to the Consumer Price Index. Tuesday, Statistics Canada announced that P.E.I.’s CPI increase was the highest in Canada, and yet, our personal income tax exemption is the lowest in Canada. It should also be tied to the CPI.
Good luck in the next election, Wes. And if you have trouble with Stephen Harper’s new EI rules, I’ll give you one of my t-shirts.
