Editor: While watching news last week from Nova Scotia, I intently listened to the man who spoke on how grateful he was to receive home care. I know what he meant.
My 83-year-old father had a bad fall last spring and was hospitalized for an extended period. This was a scary situation, I must say. Time for his release, where was he going to go, nursing home? We didn't know.
But the social working staff at QEH comforted my mom and helped us through the event. He came home and later on we were fortunate enough to have home care come in. I haven't met some of the guys and gals who have come to our home to help, but I write this note to say we appreciate your compassion and love to a man in his aging years. A service that needs recognition and I'm sure thanks from many Islanders.
Kudos, Mr. Currie for this service that saves hospital stays and large amounts of taxpayer dollars. I'm sure it will continue and expand. I say home care is the way to go.
