Editor: You know the saying, "Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postman from their appointed rounds." Postmen have their fair share of obstacles delivering your mail such as icy steps and roads, barking dogs, broken side walks, rickety steps, pot holes, traffic, skunks etc. But today I could not believe what I saw!
The mailman on Kensington Road was literally being attacked by a crow. This crow repeatedly swooped down on the unsuspecting postman who was quickly trying to eat his lunch as he walked rapidly to the pick up box.
That crow was determined, as he dive bombed the postman four times before the poor guy was able to escape gulping down his last bite. I know that crows are creatures of habit. Perhaps the mailman routinely gets a quick snack every day around noon on that very corner and the crow is waiting for his opportunity to grab his sandwich. The crow did not succeed but I must admit he gave it his best effort.
I have added crows to my list of work hazards after witnessing that crow in "attack mode.”
As a result I have a better appreciation for the mailman who delivered my mail today.
