Editor: I wanted to bring awareness to the public regarding those who smoke outside around public buildings across the province, especially with the risk of receiving second-hand smoke.
There are many who also smoke outside the corner of buildings or in parking lots near individuals who are walking near by and there does not appear to be much awareness that the tobacco smoke can carry and affect those individuals who are sensitive to tobacco products or who are also allergic. There are even tobacco scents when going through drive- thrus at our favourite restaurants that carry from nearby smokers that can also cause issues from second- hand smoke.
I would like everyone to please be aware of his or her surroundings and to try to avoid having a smoke in close proximity to where people may be walking nearby to enter a shopping mall, a restaurant, or even while enjoying a walk down at the park. Nonsmokers are at a great risk to having health issues even by going by an area where tobacco smoke can carry as much as if standing by a person who smokes. Please be courteous to your neighbours.
