The other day, I am sitting and trying to read my Economist, Time, The Guardian, Globe and Mail, Bloomberg Report just to name a few . . . and a strange thought came to my mind.
No one in history, before us, has been bombarded by this much written material as our generation is. Highest technology in printing, communication — however, we are still using many thousand years old technology to read . . . 1. recognize the letter; 2. recognize the whole cluster and comprehend the word; 3. do the same for the rest of the words and make sense of the sentence. This is what the Romans and the Persian were doing . . .
Teachers, professors, educators, a great opportunity is knocking, please do come up with a 21st-century method of reading. If we don’t, than much of the useful and needed messages will never be read. We are overwhelmed, and even to sort out the important from the unimportant —we don’t have time.
