Justin Bourque, the suspect in one of the worst mass shootings in the RCMP's history, arrives at court under heavy guard in Moncton, N.B. on Friday, June 6, 2014. Bourque is scheduled to appear in court July 3. He is facing three first-degree murder charges and two counts of attempted murder and has not entered pleas on the charges.

MONCTON, N.B. — A young man charged with fatally shooting three RCMP officers and wounding two others in Moncton, N.B., last month is scheduled to appear in court today.

Justin Bourque is facing three first-degree murder charges and two counts of attempted murder in Moncton provincial court, and has not entered pleas on the charges.

David Lutz, a senior New Brunswick lawyer, confirmed Wednesday that he will be representing Bourque.

The 71-year-old lawyer from Hampton, N.B., has practised law in New Brunswick since 1977, handling 35 murder trials during that time.

Constables Dave Ross, Fabrice Gevaudan and Douglas Larche were gunned down after responding to a report of a man with firearms in a residential neighbourhood on June 4.

Two other RCMP officers — constables Eric Dubois and Darlene Goguen — were wounded and later released from hospital.

The shootings and ensuing manhunt brought the city to a standstill until an arrest was made about 30 hours later.

On July 13, 2013 the Codiac RCMP shot Daniel Levesque 4 times and killed him. He was a friend of Justin Bourque's. There was an investigation into the fatal shooting and on May 23, 2014, the RCMP were found not guilty of killing Levesque. 10 days later Bourque attacked the cops. The media doesn't know this because they're stupid.

I would like to know why this guy went after the RCMP officers & not the general public . What he done was horrible , but there must be a reason for him to have such a grudge . Did they do something to him in the past to bring on this rage ??????????????????? Something missing in this story ?

RE "but there must be a reason" I would like to help you find the "reason". Could you give us five reasons (in your estimation) that would justify murdering three RCMP officers in cold blood??
