Kensington man flees from police

Police in Summerside have charged a 36-year-old Kensington man with several offences after a short vehicle pursuit at approximately, 5 p.m. Monday.

Officers attempted to stop a 1995 Dodge Dakota on Central Street after witnessing the vehicle fail to stop for a red light on Highway # 2.

The vehicle failed to stop after police activated emergency equipment and led police on a short pursuit after he forced oncoming traffic onto the sidewalk to avoid collision.

The vehicle was finally blocked by police on Central street and the driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation the driver was charged with impaired driving, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle while prohibited.

The accused was incarcerated for the night and will be appearing at a future date in Summerside Provincial court to answer to the charges.
