People are starting to think about sitting outside, even though it certainly doesn’t feel much like spring these days.

Charlottetown city council recently signed off on a number of resolutions that gives businesses in the downtown area the green light to open their decks for the season.

These are development/encroachment agreements, which essentially means patios operate on sidewalks and take up a parking spot or two. All of them are effective through 2018.

Brits Fish and Chips on Great George Street is allowed to operate its outdoor patio in two perpendicular parking spaces in front of the restaurant, subject to annual permit applications.

Piatto Neapolitan Pizza will open its outdoor patio on Queen Street, taking up two parallel parking spaces on King Street.

Casa Mia Restaurant on Queen Street will use up two perpendicular parking spaces for its outdoor patio.

Sim’s Corner Steakhouse on Queen Street will also operate an outdoor patio, to be located in two perpendicular parking spaces on Queen Street as well as two parallel parking spaces on Sydney Street.

Merchantman Pub on Queen Street will open its outdoor deck using three perpendicular parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

And, Terra Rouge Bistro on Queen Street has also entered into a development/encroachment agreement for its outdoor patio, to be located in the two perpendicular parking spaces in front of the establishment.
