A freezing rain warning has been issued for all three counties in Prince Edward Island.
A low pressure system approaching from south of New England will track slowly eastward and pass south of Nova Scotia overnight tonight.
Periods of snow will develop after midnight, then change to freezing rain or rain by Wednesday morning.
Parts of P.E.I., especially locations near the coast, are expected to see several hours of freezing rain, which is forecast to end near noon Wednesday as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become ice and slippery. Motorists are asked to be prepared to adjust driving with changing road conditions.
The weather could also result in power outages.
