Daylight Savings Time also  a reminder change the batteries in smoke alarms

Firefighters on P.E.I. remind Islanders to change the batteries in smoke detector when changing the time on clocks this weekend.

On Sunday, March 13, clocks need to be adjusted to "spring ahead" one hour for the start of Daylight Savings Time.

Fire departments encourage Islanders to use Daylight Savings Time as a reminder to change the batteries in smoke alarms and update or install new smoke alarms.

Batteries should be replaced every six months and there should be a working smoke alarm in every sleeping room on every level of a home.
