Autopsy results are not back yet for Dr. Donald Stephens, government says no safety concern about trail system

The funeral for Dr. Donald Stephens was held on Friday at Central Christian Church in Stratford.

Stephens was found dead in Bonshaw a couple of days after he went out for a run and was reported missing.

Autopsy results are not back yet.

Stephens was found about a kilometre away from his truck, an area that takes in the Appin trail. It was not on land that is known as the Bonshaw Hills Public Lands.

The RCMP and province's Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy say there are no concerns in regards to the safety of the trail system in the area.

His obituary says that Stephens spent many happy hours trail running and that his greatest joy in life was his family.

The family has requested that donations be made to the P.E.I. Ground Search and Rescue, P.E.I. chapter of Canadian Mental Health and the Central Christian Church refugee fund.
