Rash of vehicle thefts keep RCMP busy

Members of the RCMP in both Queens and Prince Districts   were kept busy Tuesday night and Wednesday morning handling reports of four stolen vehicles.

At approximately 10:30 p.m.. a 2016 GMC Sierra was reported stolen from the Brackley Beach area.  The theft was investigated and the vehicle was later recovered, damaged, in the Clyde River area.

In Clyde River, a Toyota Corolla was stolen at approximately 11:50 p.m., and this vehicle was also later recovered in the Crapaud area. It, too, sustained damage during the crime.

Subsequently, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Prince District RCMP received a report that a wine coloured Buick Century   had been stolen from Crapaud.  This vehicle has not yet been recovered as yet, and police are asking members of the public to keep an eye out for a vehicle of this description with a P.E.I. licence plate is PL 314.

Also stolen at approximately 1:40 a.m. from St. Catherines was a 2000 Ford Mustang with P.E.I. licence plate 929NQ.  This vehicle also has yet to be recovered.

Police are asking for assistance from the public in locating this vehicle.

An RCMP spokesman said it was unfortunate that all four stolen vehicles  had keys in the vehicle,  making them easy prey for the criminals.  The RCMP are reminding people to secure their  property.

It is not advisable to leave keys or items of value in your vehicle when unattended.

Anyone who has information about this issue that might assist RCMP in this investigation can contact the Queen District RCMP directly at 902-368-9300 or provide it anonymously via P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS); online at www.peicrimestoppers.com ; or text   “TIP162” plus your message to 274637 (CRIMES).

Vehicle stolen from Brackley Beach found in Clyde River. Vehicle stolen from Clyde River found in Crapaud. Vehicle stolen from Crapaud not found. Vehicle stolen from St. Catherine. Maybe, just maybe, the Crapaud vehicle is in St. Catherines?

Just to say . With the keys left in these vehicles ; I hope they are not covered by their insurance. A Convenient way to get paid for an old beater. The r.c.m.p. should not be wasting their time; and tax payers money ; looking for vehicles that had the keys left in them; by the owners stupidity.
