There will be over 600 employment opportunities available at the annual tourism job fair being hosted today by the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) at the Delta Prince Edward, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The goal of the tourism job fair is to provide job seekers, students, employers, training institutions and government agencies a central location to network.

This event will be most effective for businesses currently recruiting, expecting to recruit in the near future or those wanting to promote their services to job seekers.

The tourism industry has so many opportunities that can appeal to different interests and ages, says TIAPEI President Robert Jourdain.

“We encourage everyone interested in tourism to attend March 5th and see what opportunities await.”

This event is open to all ages, skill levels and educational backgrounds of people that have a desire to work in the tourism industry.

Attendees of job fair will also have a chance to enter to win a pair of tickets to one night of the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.

To view the entire list of employers who will be attending the job fair or for more information, visit www.tiapei.pe.ca.

This project is funded in whole or in part by the Canada/Prince Edward Island Labour Market Development Agreement.

Tourism is a vital industry in Prince Edward Island that provides over 7,300 full time equivalent jobs for Islanders. It accounts for approximately $401 million in economic activity each year and seven per cent of the province’s GDP, the highest percentage of any Canadian province.

Well Don, sometimes driving that 45 minutes or an hour, or even two for a job opportunity just may pay off. This mentality is what is behind people wanting every service in every community. Unbelievable.

A negative spin on a positive story from don but then again how very typical from some Islanders , glass is always half empty . It's called the P.E.I. tourism job fair, not the Charlottetown tourism job fair. Sorry it's not in your back yard but then again all those who have to travel out West to find work are inconvenienced as well.

is TIAPEI going to be having a job fair in areas up west like Summerside,Tignish or east like Montague,Souris?? i guess not as it does not say that in this report just looking out for ch'town area. that would be called BIAS. but i guess jobs for students from upei etc is more important then the rest of the people on PEI.
