Ryan George Keefe has been advised he can’t even drive a lawnmower

GEORGETOWN – A man who has ignored driving prohibitions for more than a decade has been advised he can’t even drive a lawnmower.

Ryan George Keefe was spotted pulling into the Irving gas station in Souris on Feb. 12 and entering the building. That’s where a police officer handed him a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while disqualified. In fact, Keefe has been disqualified from driving indefinitely after his licence was suspended 10 years ago.

Provincial court was told he also owes $19,560 in unpaid fines for driving-related charges.

The accused told Chief Judge Nancy Orr he was working on a payment plan of $10 a month and was fined $300 and placed on probation for two years.

Geographic location: GEORGETOWN, Irving, Souris

This guy's has nothing going for him! He's in and outta jail and frankly doesn't care. It's kinda sad because he's a addict and doesn't see a life for himself! that's the life he's created and that probably the way he'll die

If they're seen/ caught driving, then seize the car. Every time. They won't follow the laws that society have in place to protect everybody, so take away their rides. Obviously, they think "screw them" meaning the law, but what about the citizen who ends.up on the wrong side of him. They're screwed too.

A good example of the abuse of the system, warrants with option where a warrant was issued for the fine and if you did not pay you were sentenced to custody were found to be in violation of the Trudeau seniors Charter of Rights and Freedoms,it was a tax on the poor and there are no debtors prisons anymore..BUT surely there must be someything to the GOVT can do either a GARNISH( another hardship on the accused) or the option to serve the time voluntarily(most the acused are not big wage earners and are laid off a lot of the year(again they lose their EI affecting their families).... stats prove these kind of offenders cause alot of hit and runs, drive impaired and are involved in injury accidents..sometimes after trying to flee authorities even killing people.Mr KEEFE is an example and his response shows it ...they have nothing to lose.....May I suggest they be put on Probation after several charges ,then if they continue their ways and get caught a Crimnal Charge can be laid ....then jail time can be a deterrent will at least get them OFF the road.

i read some of the comments posted here about this case and all i can do is shake my head and ask myself the question are some of these people seriously that stupid one ladt wants to put him in jail for 10 years for driving while disqualified. just what we need the prison system over crowded more than it already costs over 100k per year per inmate to house an inmate in a federal institution.thats al little harsh for not paying fines dont ya think?another person wants to garnish his start doing that and people will stop working which will put the crime rate higher than it already is or go on welfare which the tax payers there is another genious idea. another guyy says they should seize his vehicle...what if he wasnt driving his own vehicle? than what should somebody else lose their wehicle for lending theirs too him? not the vehicle owners fault he has unpaied fines and so on and so on..REALLY is it just me or do these suggestions just seem really stupid. i have had my liscense suspended for fines my self and yes i have drove nd gotten more fines eventually you realize that you have to stop getting fines and pay them off if ever want to possess a valid drivers liscense which is something that is essential especially if work cause you have to be able to drive for pretty much ant blue collar job so really what can u really do about like something like this?the only person tht gets the shitty deal in this is the person getting the fines if the criminal code deemed this as a serious offence than the punishment would be jail time and not a fine now wouldnt it?

WHAT? He owes the Crown almost $20,000! WHY is this debt allowed to carry on? If most people owe the government 10 cents in income tax, for example, the government wants it right away. And paying $10.00 a month is a joke. I am at a loss to understand how someone can get away with this. Garnish his wages!!

Really you are joking right! Now what if you get in accident and people get seriously hurt or even die . What then? You can be charged with man slaughter causing bodily harm or death if you are in the wrong. You are automatically in fault if you don't have a license . You could cause a family of loved ones a lot of grief . It could never happen or it could happen as soon as you pull out of your drive way. You may like playing Russian roulette with your life but what about someone else's .Your gully enough to tell everyone you do this how about put a name to your idiotism ,because what you put in your comment is true or not tells me you don't have the mental capacity to be driveing in the first place.

Not sure what planet you are from!!!!!! Having someone on the highway that does not meet the requirements to have a license is everyones business. When you have gone thru having your child seriously injured by an impaired driver, come and talk to me. Until then, smarten up and stay off the highways. Sure hope the authorities take the time to trace your computer identidy.

This is just another statement of the farce we have for a justice system here. It is no wonder we have so much crime. NO JUSTICE SYSTEM, unless of course you are taking something away from the Government cash fund. Then justice will kick in. They will not put someone in jail where they must feed them, clothe them, etc, when they can just let them go. You want to see justice in action, Don't pay your taxes, You will see it then very quickly.

How many people who are prohibited from driving actually stop driving? Sentences are way too lean for repeat offenders so people are not scared to not offend again. Repaying $10 a month will take 1,986 months or 165.5 years (assuming no interest being charged) before amount is repaid and I am sure he is still driving.

that's outrages can't he be stopped why should I pay for my license and insurance when he can just jump into a car and drive. with no license and insurance. does he have to kill someone first before anything is done or will he get away with that too something is wrong with our laws very wrong $10 a month is a joke 10 years in jail might make him stop

He's "working on a payment plan of $10.00 a month". Is he joking? Perhaps his wages should be garnished.
