HUNTER RIVER – Malpeque MP Wayne Easter has recently been elected co-Chairman of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group.
“As a long time active member of the Canada-US Inter-Parliamentary Group, I fully appreciate the critically important work this group does,” said Easter.
“The bilateral issues between our two countries are numerous and, at times, contentious and difficult," he said. "In my role as co-chair I look forward to continued discussions which will keep the interests of Canada at the forefront.”

Easter will serve as co-chairman with Senator Janis Johnston.
The Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group brings together legislators from the parliament of Canada and members of the US House of Representatives and Senate, to discuss issues in detail and map out resolutions.
“It is important that Canadian parliamentarians present a strong and united presence to our US counterparts and that in speaking with one voice, we move the issues of importance to Canadians forward,” said Easter.
