Busy weekend for RCMP as it encounters passenger with bear spray, yet more criminal activity in Pleasant Grove

A traffic stop could prove costly for a woman who was allegedly caught with marijuana after a traffic stop on a vehicle in which she was a passenger.

On Jan. 23 at 12:45 p.m. the RCMP allegedly saw someone who was known to police driving while disqualified.

The police stopped him in a driveway in Charlottetown and allegedly found a passenger in the vehicle had marijuana and a can of bear spray.

She was arrested for allegedly falsely identifying herself as the driver.

The driver was charged with driving while disqualified.

A Pleasant Grove man was also charged with driving while disqualified after the RCMP saw his vehicle parked without a licence plate.

On Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the RCMP saw the vehicle stopped at a mailbox and arrested the 56-year-old driver.

A 52-year-old man is facing a charge of having care and control of a vehicle while impaired after he was arrested in North Rustico on Saturday.

The RCMP allege the man was drinking beer while behind the wheel at the North Rustico Lions Club.

Breathalyzer samples allegedly showed his blood alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit.

Soon after, the RCMP charged a 25-year-old Emyvale man with driving while his licence was suspended.

The RCMP also issued him a speeding ticket.

On Sunday, the RCMP issued a 90-day driving suspension and speeding ticket to a 19-year-old Scotchfort man who failed a roadside screening test.

The man was driving with a graduated licence and breathalyzer samples taken later were allegedly just over the legal limit.

There were also three more 911 calls over the weekend for suspected impaired driving.

One of those calls led police to stop a driver from leaving a residence while drunk.

Joe doe I don't think Pei is any worse off than any other places in Canada as for drinking problems and drinking and driving charges....it's the fact that it's one of the only places in the world you get to read about every single charge.
