Shots fired in Abney

Kings District RCMP were called to a residence in Abney early Tuesday after receiving a report that a shot had been fired.

A spokesman for the RCMP said a woman contacted the detachment at 1 a.m. to report there was a male outside her house who required police assistance.

Members of the detachment, assisted by a police service dog and handler, made an immediate patrol to the area.

Upon arrival officers ascertained that during a dispute between two men who were known to each other a shot had been fired inside the residence.

Fortunately no one had been struck.

Officers seized two firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

One of the individuals involved was located at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown where he had gone to receive treatment for injuries received in the fight, the other was located in the residence in Abney.

The investigation into this incident is still in the early stages and it is anticipated that charges will be laid.
