A 21-year-old resident of Charlottetown will be appearing in provincial court at a later date

A young drunk man ran a red light in front of a police patrol Tuesday and now faces impaired driving charges.

Charlottetown Police Services received a complaint early Tuesday morning around 2:00 a.m. about a possible impaired driver on Kent Street, said a statement from the force.

"Police patrolled the area and observed the suspect vehicle failing to stop for a red light at Euston and Weymouth streets," said the statement.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the operator for impaired driving.

The accused male, a 21-year-old resident of Charlottetown, will be appearing in provincial court at a later date.

"Charlottetown Police Services encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving by calling 911," said the statement.
