The signs going into O'Leary, in western Prince Edward Island, may soon need to change. The community is looking at changing to town status.
O’LEARY — Even though a decision on a design for new Town of O’Leary welcome sign at the Unionvale entrance has been a year and a half in the making, councillors decided at their recent monthly meeting there is no need to hurry now.
The signs, after all, won’t be going up until winter has passed.
They do, however, want it to be ready to go by then.
Interest in new signage grew out of O’Leary’s promotion to town status in March 2014.
Council did, however, get closer to settling on a final design.
Members agreed they want to stick with the tagline, “Home of the Canadian Potato Museum.”
Coun. Darren MacKinnon noted that facility draws thousands to the town every year.
