When East Prince RCMP stopped a motorist in Wellington Sunday night on suspicion of speeding and impaired driving they discovered two children in the back seat of his car.

The children were under 10 years of age and were given to their mother to take home. The RCMP news release did not say if their mother was in the car at the time of the incident.

The driver, a 39 year old area resident, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Open liquor was also seized.

The driver provided breath samples, and is being charged for impaired driving. Tickets were issued for the open liquor and for driving with an expired license.  He is also being charged for uttering threats after he threatened to damage the officers’ personal vehicles.

This impaired driving charge follows three separate arrests for impaired driving in Prince County the day before.

I think if your caught drinking with kids in the back seat putting them in harms way, you should get more jail time not just a slap on the wrist. just my opinion, thanks

Why not put his name in the paper? Then we know to keep an eye out for him driving.Last week they put a guy away after many times. This guy should go for at least a year.

I'm sure the punishment will be quite harsh like all other drunk drivers.

Wow....words can't even express the amount of disgust I have for this man. Open liquor IN THE CAR WITH YOUR KIDS??!! How do you even have children for this long before a few or even ONE red flag goes up? I'm sure he's a nice man who loves his children, yes. But the amount of addiction ridden matter this guy's mind must possess is appalling..I wish these kids the best.....

It's unfortunate, but it'll take killing his own kids before he learns.
