Scales of justice

The case of a 38-year-old Farmington man facing multiple charges following an incident last month in which a 17-year-old girl was found injured by the side of the road in the Cherry Valley area has been adjourned to Sept. 8.

Gary Edward Brown did not appear in provincial court Monday when his case was called but defence counsel Mitchell MacLeod sought and was granted a further adjournment.

MacLeod said his client was not yet ready to elect his mode of trial. He noted there was a large amount of documentation to be reviewed before that could happen.

Brown is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and mischief.

The Crown recently withdrew charges of assault, sexual assault and unlawful confinement against Brown laid in connection with the same incident.

The charges against Brown stem from an incident on July 16 in which RCMP allege a young woman exited a moving vehicle.
