EAST BIDEFORD — Two people who were taken to hospital earlier this week after their vehicle hydroplaned during heavy rain were later released.
The incident occurred along Route 12 near the East Bideford Road turn-off at around 4:45 p.m. Monday.
Both the driver and his female passenger were taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked out. The driver was transferred from the scene on a backboard.
Cpl. Stephen MacDonald with East Prince RCMP said officers reported heavy rainfall and a buildup of water on the road.
The driver indicated his vehicle, a 2010 Mazda 3, hydroplaned, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
Travelling north, it crossed the road, entered the southbound ditch and rolled over. Damage was described as extensive.
