Youth charged after 19 calls made around Charlottetown to 911

The capital city’s police force was flooded with 911 calls over the weekend but none of them were emergencies.

On Sunday, Charlottetown Police Services responded to 19 abandoned 911 calls from payphones in the downtown area throughout the early morning hours.

Police identified and arrested the young person responsible. That young person has been charged with public mischief and will appear in Youth Court at a later date.

    The use of words young person or youth in this article are misleading. If the accused is 19 then the courts will view them as an adult. The use of the word youth leads readers to believe the accused is a young offender who's name cannot be released. This is simply not the case. The "young" adult can be named.
