ST. PETERS - Partying too hard at the Blueberry Festival Dance here on the weekend has landed a 50-year-old Head of Cardigan resident in hot water.

Kings District RCMP said they stopped a pickup truck after the dance and arrested the male driver for impaired driving.

Police stopped the truck at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday after officers observed the truck crossing the centre line.

Further investigation led to the driver’s arrest.

He was transported to Souris RCMP detachment and provided breath samples that showed his blood alcohol level was almost twice of the legal limit.

The driver was released on documents for an August appearance in Georgetown provincial court.

“Summer is a time for celebration that often includes alcohol,” said police in a press release. “These months are especially busy for police in apprehending impaired drivers and they appreciate the public's continued assistance to keep Island roadways safe.”
