The annual Government House Garden Party at Fanningbank in Charlottetown will be held Tuesday, July 15.

Their Honours, Lt.-Gov. H. Frank Lewis and Dorothy Lewis, will greet visitors from 2-4 p.m.

This annual tradition is always popular and the grounds of Fanningbank are being prepared for the event. As usual, light refreshments will be available including beverages, sweets and fresh berries. The popular flower gardens, including the large rose garden, will be accessible for walking and pictures.

Their Honours wish to emphasize that residents and visitors alike are welcome and there is no dress code; however, as there are many celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Confederation Conference, period dress will be very appropriate. It is expected that many fascinators and hats will be seen again this year.

Other than the day of the garden party, Government House is open for free, bilingual guided tours until the end of August, Monday to Friday, with tours every half hour starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 3:30 p.m. without appointment. Advance notice of groups larger than 10 people is appreciated. Other times for group tours can be arranged by appointment.

Visitors to Government House are reminded that parking is limited at all times and restricted on the day of the garden party.

i wonder how they can afford to live in such a mansion and spend like they do ???????? If they aren't millionaires ,their bills must be paid for by pretty rich people !! Wonder why they would waste their money on such extravagance ??????????If some one else is funding them, I know many needy people who better deserve such generosity !!!

we the tax payers are paying for his lazy butt to enjoy the best of foods, maid service, butler, driver, and his big fancy wages plus his pensions, that house could be used for the needy, just think the money we spend on the building etc could well be used for health, schools.
