The cloudy, wet and cool weather may have scared away some people, but those who came to Victoria Park Saturday afternoon and evening were treated to some great blues and some great artists.

Doris Mason, who grew up in New Glasgow, N.S., played a set of blues on the keyboard like few other performers. She was backed by Got Blues, a Charlottetown band that treats blues like a religion.

The blues concert was the final free event that celebrated 1864 Week in Charlottewtown and it was supposed to end with a bang when the fireworks show began, but they were cancelled due to the cloud and light rain. It is hoped the fireworks will go Sunday at 10 p.m.

Other performers on the stage were Chas Guay, Plain Dirty Blues, Scott Parsons, Place Shakers and More Soul.
