STRATFORD - A Charlottetown teen is facing impaired driving charges after a collision here Friday night.

The charge was laid after RCMP responded to a two-vehicle rear-end collision on the Trans-Canada Highway at approximately 11 p.m.

Both vehicles received extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

Island EMS dealt with minor injuries at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the first vehicle was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The driver, an 18-year-old city man, is also facing an additional charge of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

Officers from the Stratford and Queen District RCMP said they wanted to thank the Stratford Citizen’s On Patrol, who were on scene immediately after the accident and assisted with the investigation.

Good job R. C. M. P. Keep reeling them in. they just don't get the message about drinking and driving on this small Island. Sad that he has to have a Criminal Record at such a young age. Not cheap getting Car Insurance when you have a record.

I wanted to say a very big thank you to citizen's on patrol. My daughter was in the vehicle that got hit by the drunk driver. A very scary experience for all of us. Citizen's on patrol were right there helping my daughter, making her feel safe and comfortable. This was a very scary time for both girls and these wonderful citizens were there supporting them. When I arrived on scene, I was very upset. The volunteers were helpful, kind and made me feel at ease. Thank you so much for all you did last night. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
