Foodies can start making their plans for September after the official release of the Fall Flavours signature events schedule today.

Chef Austin Clement, chair of the P.E.I. Culinary Alliance, said the festival is building on the success of last year’s Fall Flavours.

“2013 was by far the most successful Fall Flavours to date,” he said.

The annual Fall Flavours festival is meant to attract tourists to P.E.I. during the shoulder season and about half of the people who attend are from off-Island.

This year Fall Flavours runs from Sept. 6-28, will feature more than 30 events and will see several celebrity chefs returning to host the 10 signature events.

Those chefs include Lynn Crawford, Corbin Tomaszeski, Chuck Hughes and Massimo Capra.

The events will be spread out around P.E.I. and showcase different Island products, like the Lobster Party on the Beach in West Point and Beef N Blues in Summerside.

Tickets for the Fall Flavours events go on sale June 2and are available through the Confederation Centre of the Arts box office and www.fallflavours.ca.

It's too bad with so many great chefs on PEI the Island tax payer is spending tens of thousands of dollars bringing in these so called celebrity chefs instead of promoting our own. Typical.
