Scales of justice
A 23-year-old Souris man charged with a series of offences after an incident in Souris Sunday morning appeared before a justice of the peace in Charlottetown Tuesday for a showcause hearing.
No ruling was necessary however as the accused, Desmond Outhouse, agreed to remain in custody by his own consent.
Outhouse is charged with two counts of resisting arrest, one count of causing a disturbance, two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of uttering threats to damage property and two counts of uttering threats to the officers involved.
He will appear in provincial court in Georgetown on Thursday before Provincial Court Judge Nancy Orr.
Outhouse was arrested with help from bystanders after he allegedly assaulted two Kings District RCMP officers Sunday morning.
The officers were responding to a complaint at a Souris business at 2:15 a.m. when they arrested the man.
An off-duty Halifax police officer and two males who were passing by stopped to help the RCMP officers restrain the man and put him in a police vehicle.
The two RCMP officers sustained minor injuries that didn’t require medical attention.
