BYRNES ROAD - A Green Meadows man has been charged after operating an all-terrain vehicle while impaired here early Saturday morning.
Kings District RCMP received the report of an impaired driver at approximately 2 a.m.
Police arrested the man at the scene for impaired care and control and was transported to the Montague RCMP detachment, where he provided breath samples which police described as “well over the legal limit.”
The man is scheduled to appear in provincial court in July.
RCMP said it wanted to remind the traveling public that this is Canada Road Safety Week. Islanders can expect to see an increased police presence on P.E.I. roads.
Montague RCMP are also investigating acts of mischief that took place at the Murray Harbour Community Centre and E.A. Keeping Memorial Park sometime between late Friday, May 16 and early Saturday, May 17.
An attempted break-in to the community centre caused damage to the rear door of the building, while several solar outdoor lights were smashed off a railing near the front entrance.
A vehicle had also entered the park and tore up a significant amount of grass throughout the grounds of the park.
RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in solving both crimes.
