A St. Peters man was caught Friday for drinking and driving during a checkstop near Cardigan.

Kings District RCMP were conducting the traffic check for impaired drivers today in the Cardross area.

"A 43-year-old male from St Peters encountered the check stop, which resulted in him providing a sample of his breath roadside," said a statement from the RCMP.

"The male was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Montague Detachment where he provided samples of his breath that were approximately twice the legal limit."

The man is scheduled to appear in Court in June.

"Kings District RCMP wish to remind the traveling public that this is Canada Road-Safety week and to expect to see increased police presence and enforcement on PEI roads," said the statement.

I think their names should be published! Unless they feel peer pressure from the community to seek a sober driver while having a few, most will re-offend.
