BORDEN-CARLETON – P.E.I.’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is getting ready to replace the aged bridge in Augustine Cove.

The Augustine Cove Bridge on Route 10 was built in 1922. It is slated for replacement under the province’s bridge rehabilitation program.

A public meeting to inform local residents about what the work will entail will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Borden-Carleton Industrial Mall boardroom (167 Industrial Dr.).

Everyone is welcome to attend.

    What a waste. Just close it and institute permanent detours. It makes no sense replacing a bridge when alternate routes exist.

    The bridge is as old as my mother, and my mother is still in pretty good shape. Must have been a good year----1922
