Residents raise worries about traffic increase on Kensington Road
A developer is proposing to build three six-unit condominium buildings on property owned by the Belvedere Golf Course in Charlottetown.
City council held a public meeting Wednesday night because the proposal involves changing the zoning from open space to medium density residential.
A presentation was made by John Mantha, representing developer Hanmac Inc. The developers who run Hanmac are Thane Hanson and Cecil MacLaughlin.
Almost all the concerns voiced at the meeting by area residents centered around traffic on Kensington Road.
The development being proposed is identified by the address 1 Greensview Drive and is located behind the Co-op grocery store, beside the fourth hole at the golf course.
Anytime the city considers a zoning change, council has to hold a public meeting as part of the public consultation process.
The application now goes back to the planning board next week for review. The board will make a recommendation to council for its meeting on May 12.
